I Won’t Back Down is an eleven-song modern rock project aimed at encouraging youth to stand strong in the Christian life. The title track is Greg’s heartfelt cover of the Tom Petty hit. In addition to the Petty cover, I Won’t Back Down features nine new Walton originals. Although he’s a solo artist, Greg wasn’t alone on this album. “One of the things I’ve learned is that you can’t build something great without a lot of help. A songwriter’s journey never ends and there was a lot of distance I wanted to cover for this project, but I knew I couldn’t do it alone.” Greg sought the coaching of his long-time manager Greg Menza, Polarboy’s band leader Pol Buckingham, producer John Pisciotta and master songwriter Bob Halligan Jr. (Ceili Rain, Rebecca St. James, Eli, Judas Priest, Cher, Kiss, Wayne’s World, etc…). Greg also had the help of some guest artists in addition to his touring band: Aaron Smith (drums, The 77’s & A Ragamuffin Band), Wade Jaynes (bass, Steve Taylor & Over the Rhine, David Teems (flat pickin’), T.J. Klay (harp) and Robin Welty (BGVs). The end result is edgy rock ‘n roll based on great melodies making it “John Boy’s” strongest work to date.

Spirit of Fire speaks for itself: praise and worship that sets your soul on fire. This album displays a wide variety of worshipful ballads and rockin’ Santana vibe praise. Written and produced by Greg’s longtime friend Mike Harrison, Spirit of Fire received two nominations in the Praise and Worship category for the 2001 Unity Awards. This second edition printing features two additional settings of the title track in Spanish. Walton comments, “While I was on tour in Germany, I was a little embarrassed that I could only speak English while my European friends spoke several languages. I have been given a challenge by God to be less ethnocentric and so He’s encouraged me to learn Spanish that I may minister to our Latin American brothers and sisters.” One reviewer comments on the album, “It's impossible to sit through this - you gotta stand!”

This is Greg’s 2001 Unity Award winner for Modern Rock/Alternative Album of the Year. Stealing Moment is straight ahead no-nonsense rock likened to such artists as The Wallflowers, Tom Petty and Geoff Moore, along with traces of David Matthews and Cheryl Crow. A wonderful diversity in musical instruments and techniques keep the listener interested, wondering what will be next. Greg's baritone vocals are passionate, strong, clean, and crisp, while his lyrics reflect on scripture and his personal walk with the Lord. The first cut, Leanin' On, also received a 2001 Unity Award for Modern Rock/Alternative Song of the Year. The song is a testimony about trusting God. Many listeners will favor Good Night John Boy, an upbeat song about family, community, peace, and being ready for the Lord's return. Walton is proficient on acoustic guitar, keyboards, and piano, and offers two beautiful piano-based pieces.
